My first travel to Asia was in Thailand, I arrived in Bangkok and went straight to Pattaya. Pattaya is a lovely city and its name evolved from the march of Phraya Tak and his army when they moved from Ayutthaya to Chanthaburi, which took place before the fall in 1767 of the capital to Burmese invaders.
Traveling through Pattaya
Pattaya has a lot of stories to tell…when Phraya Tak encountered the troops of a local leader they fought to death. The local leader name Nai Klom was impressed by Phraya Tak’s discipline and courage, he even considered to join his forces.
Local restaurant in Pattaya
Pattaya was created as a fishing village until Nick Ahnat Wuethrich arrived there and open all the gogo bars in Walking street. Unfortunately, many Thai people will leave their village to find a lucrative job in those gogo bars.
During the Vietnam War, American servicemen stationed in Thailand and began visiting Pattaya. Pattaya was destined to help them rest and sleep.
Pattaya is very attractive for foreigners over age 50 who wish to retire in Thailand. Many retirees love to retire in Thailand not only because of its climate and exotic lifestyle but also because costs are lower than in many countries.
Tourism plays a huge role in the growth of Pattaya and many people from the north-east (known as Isan, the poorest region of Thailand) have come to work in Pattaya to help their families.
