Asia is by far the largest and most populous continent on earth. Most of people are based primarily in the Eastern and Northern hemispheres, it shares also a great culture with the continent of Europe and Africa.

Asia covers an area of 44,579,000 square kilometres, and which has long been home to the majority of the human population. Asia is very famous for its size and population, but also had dense settlement, notably by the English and the French. Its 4.5 billion people constiture more than 50% of the world’s population.

In the 11th century, Tai people migrated from southwestern China to mainland Southeast Asia; the oldest ever record of their presence was in the region of Siamese in the 12th century. European began settlements in 1511 with a Portuguese diplomatic mission to Ayutthaya, one of the greatest power in the region.

Ayutthaya was provinces with Suvarnabhumi and Uthong as its first king. Its expansion is the result of conquest and political marriage. Before Ayutthaya invaded Khmer Empire twice and sacked its capital Angkor, Ayutthaya became a great power of Kmer Empire.

During the 19th & 20th century, British & French settlements reached the empire and although some parts were lost to the Europeans empire, the Siam empire remained strong.

Thailand is split between several geographic regions…the north has more a mountainous area of the Thai highlands. The highest point being the Doi Inthanon close to the Chiang Mai region at 2,565 meters above sea level.
